What to drink

drinks, beer

In Australia, if you go out you have plenty of options if what you want is to drink something. The national drink according to some people is the Victoria Bitter beer but that’s up to debate. During my time in Australia, I discovered that people here have a lot of options. Going out with your friends, family, girlfriend or work-mates can be a very nice experience and the wide menu of drinks you can have make the experience even better. The options range from a good wine, a cold glass of beer or even a great cup of coffee.

Finding a good wine is very easy because Australia is the fourth larger exporter of wine in the world. Almost in every state you can find a different good wine because they produce their own but the best ones are in the south of Australia because the climate conditions are better there. As I said before VB beer is really popular and if what you want is to chill with your friends this is a good option. For those non-alcoholic drinkers Australia has the solution for you. The coffee industry is not only huge but very good as well. You can find great local coffee as Vittoria or you can select the imported ones as Lavazza or Starbucks. The main idea is that it doesn’t matter your choice, in Australia you can find a beverage for every occasion and for every taste.

Strange who… Me??

Bush Tucker, weird, delicious

Even if you’re a major food-lover, Australian food can give you a hard time. When I say this I don’t mean that it tastes bad, the problem is the way it looks. All around the world there are exotic dishes that are an essential part of a country’s culture and in some places these dishes can be very weird. Australia is no different and they have dishes that will make you think twice before eating them. The first time I went to Sydney I was willing to try any food I had in front of me. We went to several restaurants and I was like a kid at Christmas with each new meal I tried. I first had a schnitzel, then we went to a dessert place and I had a delicious pavlova. Every thing was going great until we got to dinner. I knew something was strange when we went to a small place but even though it was small it was full of people. We sat down and my friend ordered a witchetty grub dish (I had no idea what that was). When the plate came I saw little worms and I knew this was going to be one of the strangest meals of my life. The only thing I know is that it was delicious.
